About me

I have been a practising psychotherapist and counsellor for the last 18 years. I believe that people can change, grow and develop to lead more fulfilling lives. Through counselling and psychotherapy people can become aware of patterns of behaviour that prevent them from achieving happiness in life.

I provide a safe environment in which people are able to explore their past and come to a greater understanding of the reasons behind their behaviour in the present. By looking at themselves they are able to change their interactions with others and are able to achieve greater fulfilment.

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA). I have a diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling and hold a masters degree in psychotherapy (MSc). My first degree was in law and I have worked in various sectors before training as a counsellor and then psychotherapist.

Since the pandemic I, like many people, have reassessed my working practices and no longer run a practice in Edinburgh, instead choosing to offer a mixture of in person and online sessions. I have recently relocated my practice to near Grantshouse, Berwickshire, 12 miles south of Dunbar and 15 miles north of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

I am experienced in working with a broad range of issues including, amongst others: depression, anxiety, panic, stress, relationship issues, life changes, low self-esteem, grief and loss.

Clients are offered a safe, confidential space within a quiet country location in which to work on a short or long-term basis dependent on their individual needs.

I abide by the Code of Ethics of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and Metanoia Institute (www.metanoia.ac.uk). I hold professional indemnity insurance for the work I do and also hold a certificate in emergency first aid. I am a PVG Scheme member in respect of work with adults, through Disclosure Scotland. I am listed on the network of BUPA recognised therapists (www.finder.bupa.co.uk/Consultant/view/222361)

I have completed a training on safe online working practise developed jointly by the Open University and The BACP.
